Welcome...
You have reached the EDK homepage. The purpose of this page is to provide the EDK community, and all those interested, with EDK news and events that EDK has been or is involved in. It also is a place for Quake news and links that I think (IMHO) others might find useful. (Please take a look at the disclamer for more info). Here's a cool large size picture of the  EDK Official Mascot

EDK has moved on...we have merged/created, with members of Clan Eliminate and Former members of Napalm Killers, Clan Killers Inc. We have moved from #clan_edk to the channel #killco on the gamesnet irc network. The Killco Homepage. Clan EDK hasn't died...we've just changed names (and made a few changes). (The graphic above was put together by Time2die)

Quake2 info:Saw a couple tips hidden on BluesNew's Quake2 Tip section a RocketJump Alias:

A page with some explanation of the Qauek2 Console command's is here. Half are just rehashed Quake1 commands.
My poor hit counter...I guess when I get home I'll have to rip it out since it doesn't seem to wanna behave. (I'm in LA till Thursday)

Genocide3...check out the Genocide 3 homepage that's up. It looks as if it will be the first Quake2 tourney. It will also have the addition of an lpb bracket. Registration has not started yet...
Config time...some commands that help troubleshooting configs..."Alias" typed by itself will display the current alias's that have been made. "bindlist" will show all the system keyboard bindings. Two commands that show the availible commands and the know varibles are "cmdlist" and "cvarlist". Since Quake2 has such good weapon balance, the need for a different approach to weapon switching was needed. Below is my current config with an interesting/modified alias command that uses three keys for all my weapon selection 6 of the 10 weapons). The blaster, single shotgun, and uzi I take into consideration that the only time you would switch to one of these is if you didn't have another weapon to use. It you grab the BFG, you are going to use it immediately. The scores alias allows you to check the dm scores in the same way that you could in Quake/QW. Certain commands from the Quake days still hold true for Quake2, like m_filter and gl_playermip.

Q2 is out...at least in the Raleigh, NC Area. $40 at EB (prepaid). MOQ|Aetius called EB at 10:30... told him they had 12 copies... 2 seconds later he was out the door and enroute. I would like to say on the topic of Q2 that it should be interesting seeing the influx of new and old players coming into the "scene" in search of Net play. Is EDK now a Q2 only clan? Eventually, but quake2 out of the box doesn't have the resources availible to support team play...IMHO.
In other happenings...Zanshin of the GLdojo has an update ranting about warez. Quake2.com has some Quake2 servers listed (Woohoo!). Later I'll post a config/macro file that I've been workin on that has some interesting alias's.

Some Quake2 links...Quake2.com seems to have a TON of Quake2 info. Of course stomped has their own Quake2 page as well as PlanetQuake. A Quake2 Networking FAQ has also started here that has some timely info as well as a server list...

OMG...The Omicron Bot rocks. It's like a reaper that works. Learns from you and in dm3 they aren't camping the water (unlike the reapers). Seriously worth a look. The only down side is that it seems to only work with NetQuake. I use the command line of "glquake -heapsize 30000 -listen 16 +sv_aim 3 +deathmatch 3 +fraglimit 50 +timelimit 20 +map dm3" to get things going and add about 8-12 bots. Pretty cool...
Mindfazr and I (T2d) with a roommate and friend are going to a 12hour Quake party to spread the word. Suppose to be 80 folks...we'll see. The only downer to the whole thing is that I think the servers are going to be NetQuake servers...but I;m bringing my laptop just in case (Which was the server at my last LAN party).

Got lag? As Jester would say...someone tripped over the (damn) cord! Incredible lag last night on both the irc servers and the qw servers...grrrr. DoomGL? I would love to take a look at it just to see Doom with Opengl graphics and mlook enabled. Retro gaming at it's best. Disruptor updated his plan with talk of a Q2 100 player map as well as info about a q2 server at id. I'm not counting...but if I was, I'd say Quake2 in 6 days!!!...I'm sure everyone's taken a look at the Quake2 Manual by now....But have you seen this? Watch for about 15 seconds for the little dudes to pop-up. Three words...rocket head man.

Unless you've had your head stuck in the ground...Quake2 in stores December 9th. I've prepaid my copy as many have so...the waiting begins. Also...the lastest teardrop / ssping / winNuke patch information is right here. The Windows95 patch is right here.

There's a new QWFAQPROXY out (1.02) dated November 27th. I found this out while trying to spectate the EG/WD Genocide finals. Forgot to put a link to MeccaWorld, the top 100 3rd party quake levels page.

Jester has accepted an invitation to join EDK. On that same topic, 2Wild4U has moved on from EDK to join Dead Onslaught (DO). EDK wishes Wild1 the best of luck. Still updating the EDK page...should be finished by Sunday.

New page...old location...Completely redid the EDK page structure in an effort to re-organize the file structure at the same time giving the page a make over. Looked at the archives at when I started keeping this page, May 8th. June 11th was the First "EDK" update and the birth date of the Clan. For the most part the page hasn't changed much from the first incarnation.

In other news...some stuff I've been meaning to pass along for a while. MeccaWorld has their Top 100 Quake levels page up. They also have a page with some what maps some notable quake dudes like and have enjoyed playing. Some of my favorite levels are amoung the top 10. One I love is a level called "Kandy Base" (I've mentioned it before) which is a good 2-4 player level...which is perfect for the LAN games we have here at the house. It's also John Romero's, for what that's worth.

If you haven't seen it already...3 Fingers' Ultimate Set-Up Guide is a cool page that deals with glQuake performance and the 3dfx cards. In that same topic, I get about 30.5fps on the Bigass Demo Zanshin talks about. This is a Normal Quake demo with scary playing 15 of his closet friends (yea right) on DM5. I played it with playermip set at 2. I see a Pure3d in my future...

Tom's Hardware page, which has been a great source of info in the past, now has a Quake/Quake II bench mark page...pretty interesting.
